Rubin "Rube" W. Rodriquez

Rubin W. Rodriquez, “Rube” age 54 of East Chicago, IN, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at home.  Rube is survived by his father, Charles Vega; 6 aunts:  Delores (late Juan) Gutierrez, Esperanza (Willie) Brown, Debra (Kelly) Magee, Anna (David) Matchin, Maria Elena (Daniel) Boyer, and Melissa (Juan) Benavidez; 2 uncles:  Thomas (late Juanita) Benavidez and Alfredo (Martha) Benavidez; close cousins, Jose "Chemita" Santos, and Joseph Perez and his mother, Monica Perez; and numerous step-siblings and cousins.  Preceded in death by mother, Hermalinda Cisneros; and brother, Adam Cisneros.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 1:00 to 8:00 pm at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN.  Deacon Ray Helfen will hold a prayer service at 7:15 pm on Friday at the funeral home.

Rubin was a graduate of East Chicago Roosevelt High School in East Chicago where he ran track and hold the track running man record (1983-1984) and also entertained in high school, dressing up as Stevie Wonder where he received a standing ovation along dressing as many other characters.  He was a Purdue University, Lafayette graduate; earning a bachelor’s and two master’s degrees.  Rubin was previously employed at Regional Mental Health in East Chicago as a Counselor; and also did volunteer work at various churches in the area.  He was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan.  Rubin was a very family oriented person with the biggest heart; always with a smile on his face.  To send an online condolence, please logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
