Salvador Del Río, age 84, of Rolling Prairie, IN formerly of East Chicago, IN passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025. He is survived by his children: Rosalia (Greg) Hernandez, Jaime (Jihad) Del Rio, Angel (Nickie) Del Rio, Martin (Marisol) Del Rio; grandchildren: Anjelica, Yvette, Juanita, Goyo, Samir, Suraya, Manuel, AnaElisa, Xavier, Eva Luna; great grandchildren: Jiovanni: great grandchild to be: Isaiah Jr; siblings: Aurora, Carmen, Consuelo: and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: Manuel (Consuelo) del Rio; and his loving wife Elisa Del Rio; brothers and sisters: Ignacio, Rosa, Margarita, Manuel, Dolores, Jesus, Josefina, Luis.
 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Mary Church, corner of Indianapolis Blvd. and 144th Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. Julio Bedoya officiating.  Private cremation to follow.  Visitation at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Salvador was born and raised in Ario de Rayon, Michoacan, Mexico. He found great joy in music and dancing. Oftentimes bursting into song mid conversation. He loved working on cars and talking about them. Quick witted and with a great sense of humor there was never a dull moment. Loved to tell whomever he could about his children whether it was about them dancing in the ballet folklorico or playing in bands. A hard working family man who was always willing to lend a hand. He was a true story teller and loved reminiscing about riding horses, hunting, and all of the odd jobs and characters that he came across throughout his years.
