Serafin Madrigal, age 41 of Hobart, IN formerly of East Chicago, IN passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023. He is survived by his wife (his high school Sweetheart) of 18 years, Cassandra (Herrera) Madrigal; 3 children: Anthony, Carlos and Vittoria; Mother, Cecilia Lopez; 6 siblings: Olga (Jesus Anaya) Madrigal, Pepa (Nick Luce) Madrigal, Gabriel Madrigal, Cecilia Madrigal, Alejandro (Jessica Mariela) Madrigal, Elsa (Victor Delgadillo) Madrigal; nieces and nephews: Christopher, Fernando, Irianna, Marely, Nicole, Ricky, Cecily, Cristian, Ari, Gabriel, Daniela, Valery and Alexa; father in-law, Lorenzo Herrera; Bonus Grandma, Lydia; Tio Victor; Tia Jenny; brothers in-law, Lorenzo (Derek) Herrera, Jr. and Fortunato Herrera; sister in-law, Vicenta Herrera.
Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 2, 2023. Sr. Chaplain Tom Rhoades of The Seamen's Church Institute will hold services 6 pm on Thursday. Interment of cremains will be Friday, November 3, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
Serafin was born in Chicago, IL and raised in East Chicago, IN and Tangancicuaro, Michoacan, Mexico. He loved music and had a passion for dancing. He was truly the life of the party. He always put his family first. Serafin was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He loved outdoor activities with his family and dogs, “Nala” and “Loki”. Serafin worked at Blessey Marine Services as a Boat Captain for 17 years where he made many life-long friends who became family. He took great pride in his work and the appearance of his boat “MV Dane F. Morgan”. He loved taking vacations with his family and absolutely loved visiting New Orleans for the food and music.
