Susana Olga (Gutierrez) Alvarez

Susana Olga Alvarez, age 77 of Chicago, IL passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at home.  She is survived by 3 children: Baltazar (Kathlina) Alvarez, Jr., Jorge (Julie) Alvarez and Arely (Jose) Estrada; 6 grandchildren: Alyssa, Mariah, Armando (Angie), David, Meilee, and Adrian; 1 great granddaughter, Alice; 3 sisters: Elsa (Gabriel) Maldonado, Socorro (late Jack) Casanova and Emma Gutierrez; nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Isidora Gutierrez; husband, Baltazar; brother, Jorge Gutierrez.

Private cremation services were provided by FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN.

Known to everyone as Olga, she came to Chicago in the 1970’s with her husband, Baltazar, Sr.  Here they settled and raised three children.  To know Olga was to love her.  She had a beautiful smile and a heart of gold, which was fitting because she sold gold jewelry out of her home for many years.  She loved to travel and would often go back to visit family in Mexico in the Summertime.  She also loved a good party and loved to enjoy a beer on occasion.  Her big joke was that she loved food and loved to eat, and would never turn down an invitation to a good restaurant.  She had a beautiful smile that would light up a room, and she was so accepting of everyone.  You immediately became family or a good friend the minute you met her.  If anyone ever needed anything she was always there and willing to help, she was so loving and giving of herself.  Her passing has left a huge hole in our hearts and she will forever be missed.  To share an online condolence, logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
