Teresa Aceves De Almaraz

Teresa Aceves de Almaraz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on May 12, 2026 at the age of 73. Teresa is survived by her husband Jose Almaraz whom she was married to for 56 years and were inseparable; children Martha (Esequiel) Torres, Jesus (Carmella) Almaraz, Gabriela Lopez, Rebeca (Adrian) Vazquez, Susana Almaraz. She devoted her time to all of her children.  Teresa was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren Andrea Shipley, Roberto (Amber) Torres, Esequiel Torres, Jr., Alyssa (Edwin) Diaz, Kristina Vazquez, Christian Torres, Carlos Almaraz, and Evelyn Teresa Almaraz. She was also a loving great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren Bella Diaz, Mateo Shipley, Luciano Diaz. Time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her immense joy.  She is also survived by her brother Enrique (Maura) Aceves and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father Miguel Aceves, mother Sara Aceves, sister Maria Dolores Aceves Lopez, sister Victoria Aceves Lopez.

A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday May 19, 2026 at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Church, 802 W. 144th St., East Chicago, IN 46312. Burial to follow at St. John/St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 18, 2026.

It is with deep love and sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved wife and mother. A beautiful soul, selfless, and always kind. Her greatest joy was creating memories with her family, and provided a safe and loving home to them. She spent her time doing hobbies that made her happy, planting flowers, embroidery, cooking for her family, and watching novelas. Her spirit lives on through the family she nurtured , the values she embodied and the countless lives she touched.  We will miss you and love you forever.
