In Loving Memory of Victor Colón
March 6, 1961 – June 3, 2025
With profound sorrow and deep love, we announce the passing of Victor Colón, a cherished son, devoted father, loving brother, and loyal friend. Victor passed away leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family and community.
Victor was born on March 6, 1961, at St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island, Illinois, and was raised in Gary, Indiana. He graduated from West Side High School in 1980, where he was a proud and passionate member of the long-distance track team. His determination and discipline in sports mirrored the dedication he would carry throughout his life.
A hardworking and skilled professional, Victor spent many years as a contractor for Bethlehem Steel, contributing his talents and commitment to the industry with integrity and pride.
Victor is survived by his loving mother, Hipolita Colón, and was preceded in death by his father, Virgilio A. Colón, and his brother, Virgilio Ayala (Junior). He leaves behind his beloved children: Felicia Cruz Colón, Victor Colón Jr., and Jasmine Colón, who will always remember his warmth, laughter, and guidance. He is also deeply mourned by his siblings: Carmenlydia (John) Reggans, Eugenia Colón, Edward Colón, Juanita (Calvin) Daniel, Juan (Veronica) Colón, Gladys Colón, and David (Belinda) Colón. His memory will forever be treasured by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Victor—affectionately known as “Vic”—was a man of heart and humility. His generosity, humor, and compassionate spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether offering a helping hand or sharing a kind word, Victor made a difference in the lives of others, simply by being himself.
We invite all who knew and loved Victor to join us in honoring his life and legacy:
Though Victor has departed this world, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved him. His memory will continue to inspire us, and his love will remain a guiding light.
Rest in peace, Vic. You will be missed more than words can express
