Victoriana (Vickie) De Leon (nee Puentes), age 94 of East Chicago, Indiana passed away Monday, November 25, 2024 peacefully at home. She was born on November 13, 1930 in Port Isabel, Texas. She is survived by 4 children: Javier (Hilda) De Leon, Margarita (Gerardo) Torres, Angelina (Randall) Fifer and Felix Jose (Jodi) De Leon; 12 grandchildren: Christopher, Michael, Robert, Amie, Kristel, Catherine, Erika, Stephanie, Michael T, Emily, McKayla and Isabella; 18 great grandchildren: Caitlin, Felicity, Julian, Korah, Maria, Aiko, Elaina, Madilyn, Lyla, Andrew, Camille, Eric Jr., Lucian, Jackson, Colby, Embyr, Raziel and Michaela; brother: George A Puentes (son Dario Duarte – Matthew and Marisol)); numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Felix; mother, Guadalupe Fernandez; siblings: Christina, Jose Luis and Arnold.
Vickie was a long-time resident of East Chicago and a devoted parishioner of St. Mary Church for over 50 years. She had an Associate Degree in Accounting and was employed at Silver Mfg. Co. when she became a resident of East Chicago. She was a former member of La Union Benefica Mexicana where she served as secretary for several years. Her hobbies included Bunco, Loteria (Mexican bingo) and occasional visits to the casino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at St. Mary Church, Indianapolis Boulevard at 144th Street, East Chicago, Indiana at 10:00 am with Rev. Jeffrey Burton officiating. Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Fife Funeral Home, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, Indiana from 4pm – 8pm (prayer service will begin at 7pm by Deacon Dennis Guernsey); and on Saturday, from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass at 10:00 am at Church.
