Yolanda I. (Ramirez) Ortega

Yolanda “Pye” Ortega passed away on February 14, 2021 at Community hospital surrounded by her loved ones. She was 46 yrs old. 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 10:00 am at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN with Rev. Eduardo Malagon officiating.  Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, 1413 - 169th St., Hammond, IN.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME will be from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, February 19, 2021 and from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Saturday morning at the funeral home.

Yolanda (Pye) was born on January 22, 1975 to Jose and Yolanda Ramirez in Hammond, IN. She married Marco A. Ortega on February 14, 1998. Together they had 3 sons. Yolanda’s passion for the food industry started at the age of 16 when she started at Burger King. Her excellent service landed her a manager position, but it was her transition to Wendy’s that really fueled her love for the fast food industry. With her hard work, dedication and excellent management skills, she landed her most recent position as General Manager of the Wendy’s in Dyer. Aside from her professional job her real passion was party planning. Pye loved to throw big celebrations for all of her friends and family to gather. She was well known for her crazy, creative and charismatic games. She had a way of bringing people together where everyone felt like they were her family. Pye loved everyone. 

Pye will always be remembered as a loving daughter, beautiful wife and mother, protective sister. and nurturing aunt. She was also a whole heartedly, phenomenal, dedicated and amazing grandmother. Her love for her granddaughter Muhleni was unparalleled and one of a kind. Her high energy and contagious laughter empowered the room. Anyone couldn’t help but laugh. She was always so full of life and the Queen of jokes. She touched everyone’s heart with just how amazing of a person she was. Her life was like a party and she was always the host. She was truly the pot of gold after a rainy storm when anyone needed it. 

She is survived by her husband Marco Antonio Ortega. Her sons Marco (Precious) Angelo and Christian Ortega. Her parents Jose and Yolanda Ramirez.  She has one sister Cristina (Eddie) Ramirez, two brothers Jose and Jesus (Amber) Ramirez. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. She was also a Godmother to many children. 

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Homero and Josephine Quiroga, paternal grandparents Roel and Jovita Ramirez. Her aunt Aurora (Rogelio) Rodriguez. Her aunt Lupe Salinas. Her aunt and uncle Rey and Linda Dziezak. Her uncles Mario and Pete Quiroga. Her uncle Roel Ramirez Jr. She is also reunited with her best friend Elmer Jimenez.
