John E. Kallas, age 91 of East Chicago, IN passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at home.  He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Eleanore (nee Zurad); 2 sons, Edward and Leonard; brother in-law, Robert (Joan) Zurad;  nieces, nephews and other relatives.  Preceded in death by parents, William and Agnes Kallas; 4 brothers and 1 sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Stanislaus Church, 4927 Magoun Avenue, East Chicago, IN with Msgr. John Siekierski officiating.  Cremation to follow.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 3:00 to 6:00 pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 and from 9:30 am until time of Mass at the Church on Wednesday morning.  Prayer services 3:00 pm Tuesday.

John was a loving husband and father.  He was a devout catholic who belonged to St. Stanislaus Church.  Mr. Kallas was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran and a talented polka musician.  John retired from American Steel Foundries and Blaw Knox Company.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
