Felix T. Varela, Sr.

Felix T. Varela, Sr., age 74 of East Chicago, IN passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eudalia “Lela” Varela; 2 children, Feliz (Jose) Rosalez and Felix Varela, Jr.; 8 grandchildren: Joey Rosalez, Ralph (Christine) Rosalez, Christine (Ismael) Rodriguez, Joel Rosalez, DeAnita Rosalez and Oscar C. Rosalez, Felix C. Varela and Adrian A. Varela; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Elisa M. Gonzalez, Angela Balman Adams and Jobita Olivera; brother in-law, Oscar Cruz, Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Preceded in death by his mother, Roberta (late Ruben) Ruiz; father, Remijio Balman; brother, Remijio R. Balman; sister, Gloria M. Delgado.

Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 12, 2019.  The American Legion Allied Post #369 will post colors at 5:30 pm and Pastor Andy Nearpass will hold services at 6:30 pm on Thursday. 

Felix retired from Lever Brothers after 33 years of service. He was a Vietnam U. S.
