Adriana (Torres) Figueroa

Adriana (Torres) Figueroa, age 56 of East Chicago, Indiana passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2023 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Adriana is survived by her husband Daniel James; sons, Justin Daniel and Christian Luciano; brothers: Gustavo and Ernesto; special cousin, Belinda; numerous nieces and nephews; and special furry companion, Max. Preceded in death by her son: Andrew Joseph; parents: Emma (nee Martinez) and Luciano Torres.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 8, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Church, 1849 Lincoln Avenue, Whiting, IN with Rev. Mark Peres, C.PP.S. officiating.  Burial to follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary, IN.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, Indiana will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, May 7, 2023 (NOTE: due to construction on Indianapolis Boulevard, please use Railroad, Tod or Olcott Avenues to 142nd Street) and from 9:00 am to 9:30 am Monday morning.. 

Adriana was born on October 14, 1966. She was a graduate at Bishop Noll Institute and obtained her Psychology degree from Purdue Calumet. Adriana dedicated her life to early childhood development in the East Chicago school system as a para-professional with English as a secondary language (ESL) and at-risk students.

Adriana was a devout, spiritual wife and mother who attended services with her sons and evangelized about her Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ. She was dedicated to her students and would often purchase clothing and gifts for them. She loved TV game shows, going to the beach, camping, and shopping for her family. She was an avid runner. She enjoyed 80s pop music and could dance to any music but would be stomping the floor anytime charro music was playing. She was fun to be around and enjoyed everyone’s company. Moreover, Adriana was committed to her family, her friends and her co-workers.
