Miguel B. Alcantar

Miguel B. “Icy Mike” Alcantar, age 70 of Gary, IN passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maria J. (nee Carrillo) Alcantar; 2 children: Michael Alcantar, Jr. and Sarah D. (Pablo) Padilla; 13 grandchildren: Michael B. Alcantar III, Andrea S. Alcantar, Jessica J. Alcantar, Pablo M. Padilla, Jr., Isabella M. I. Padilla, Matthew P. Padilla, Bruce Alcantar, Crissy Alcantar, Natasha Alcantar, Oliver Alcantar, Alfonso Alcantar, Quiche Alcantar and Sasha;  siblings: Salvador (late Ramona) Alcantar, Celia (late Ronald) Conley, Peter Alcantar, Linda (Michael) Wald and Maryann (Jimmy) Hubbard; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Preceded in death by his parents, Salvador, Sr. and Dominga Alcantar.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, October 15, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. John Bosco Church, 7113 Columbia Avenue, Hammond, IN with Rev. Richard Orlinski officiating.  Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, IN.  Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN will be from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 14, 2017 and from 9:30 am until time of Mass at the Church on Monday morning.

Miguel was a bus driver for Paratransit for PACE for 20 years.  He was an avid bowler in many leagues including the ABA where he bowled a perfect “300 game”.  Miguel was a very devoted husband, wonderful father and grandfather and was very devoted to his catholic faith.  To share an online condolence logon to www.fifefuneralhome.com
