Rose M. “Rosie” Plesha, age 75 of Highland formerly of Indiana Harbor, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020. Rosie is survived by her 3 sons: Brian , Kevin and Jason; 7 grandchildren: Karissa, Vanissa, Jerami, Nicole, Cameryn, Nathan, and Natalyn; 7 great-grandchildren: Gage, Keagan, Pryor, Rylee, Cohen, Ella-Rose and Haelynn; 1 sister, Jeanette; 2 brothers: Richard (Carol) and Jerry; sisters-in-law: Mary and Carol; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Mary (Yelenich) Plesha; brothers: Joseph, John, Rudy, Bob, and Ron; and sister, Joanne.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Rosie's birthday, Wednesday, June 9, 2021 beginning at 12:00 noon at Holy Trinity Croatian Church, 4754 Carey Street, East Chicago, Indiana, with Father Terry Steffens officiating. Memorial donations in Rosie’s memory may be made to St. Joseph's Carmelite home in East Chicago.
Rosie was the 9th of 10 siblings; a 1963 graduate of East Chicago Washington High School; attended Don Roberts Beauty College where she became a licensed beautician; Rosie also worked for Lake County as a Bailiff and then Kitchen Manager for the Kimbrough House; Office Manager for Addiction and Family Care in Hammond; long-time Catering Manager; and most importantly, a wonderful Homemaker. She was a great listener and advice giver. Her most important job was being a grandmother, spending time with her grandchildren and making memories. Rosie was a hard worker all her life and the matriarch of her family. There will be many friends and family who will miss her dearly.
