Sirilo Hernandez, age 38 of Hammond, IN passed away Monday, March 23, 2020. He is survived by his mother, Reynalda (Mariano Morataya) Hernandez; 3 children: Monique, Samantha and Emmanuel Hernandez; 6 siblings: Ebelia Hernandez, Deysa (Francisco Villar) Hernandez, Jennifer (Jorge Esqueda) Morataya, Erick Morataya, Jonathan Morataya and Jovany Morataya; nieces and nephews: Anthony, Lily, Angel, Yannet, Yoselin and Aaron; grand nephews: twins, Gianni and Amir. Preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Aureo Alvarez and Demetria Martinez.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 10:30 am at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN followed by a 11:00 am Mass at St. Mary Church, corner of Indianapolis Blvd. and 144th Street, East Chicago, IN with Rev. Nestor Varon officiating.  Cremation to follow. Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2020.

     How to summarize into paragraphs let alone into words, what an amazing person Sirilo was.  If I had to start somewhere I’d say generous!  He would give what he himself needed or didn’t even have to give. Love for his family was beyond understanding because he would do anything and I mean anything literally, for the people he loved if he was able to. Comedian, because he always had a crazy sense of humor even when it was the worse time to make jokes just to make everyone laugh.   A loyal friend.  He had others backs whether they had his or not.  Enjoyed being out and about, being with company, and having a good conversation.  His life was short lived but the one thing that is for certain is that he had unconditional love and support through it all.  He will be deeply missed but will always live on in our thoughts, hearts, and in every moment in our life that he impacted.
