Teresa "Tere" M. Lopez

Teresa M. Lopez, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024. Preceded in death by her loving parents/uncle, Obdulia C. Soto, Cecilio M. Soto, Rumaldo Moreno, and Sixta Cuadrado, as well as her sisters/brothers Nilda Delgado, Miguel A. Lopez, Francisco Lopez, Daisy M. Cuadrado, Adalberto Delgado. 

Teresa is survived by her loving husband Benjamin C. Lopez, her aunts/uncle Juanita Cuadrado, Elihu Centeno (Alejita), and her cherished children Benjamin Lopez Jr., (Lisa), Daniel C. Lopez, (Dena), and Viviana T. Lopez (Jonathan), along with her Sisters/Brothers; Maggie (Petra) Rodriguez (Augustine), Isabelita Rivera (Isaias), Ruben Lopez (Carmen), Juan A. Lopez (Saida), Adalberto (Coco) Lopez (Norma), Miguel (Ito) Cuadrado, Marilyn Cuadrado, Efrain (Pundo)(Rookie) and her adored grandchildren Benjamin III (Sierena), Caleb (Vanessa), Lily, (James), Acasia, Eleni, Andrew, Sophia, Roman, and Chase; great-grandchildren; Benjamin IV, Penelope, Elianna, Levi, James III; Nieces and Nephews; Adalberto (Junior), Monica, Emma, David, Miguel (Akey), Jose (JC), Lisandra (Freddy), Raphael (Corey), Jason (Erika), Gino, Evelyn, Angel, Iris, Llano, Nelson, Sandra, Adalberto Jr., Ricky, her cousins Myrna (Horacio), Angel (Tito), Elvira, Iliana, and her Comadres/Compadres; Maria Rivera, Priscilla and Lionel Vargas and many more.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, Indiana with Rev. Diego Florez officiating.  Burial to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana.  Visitation will be on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Boulevard, East Chicago, Indiana and on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 9:15 to 9:45 am at the funeral home. 

She will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family, her infectious laughter, and her kind and generous spirit. Teresa's passion for her church, cooking, singing, and dancing brought joy to all who knew her. Her door was always open to family and friends, and her warmth and hospitality made everyone feel welcome.

Teresa's legacy extends beyond her family; she was a dedicated community activist who selflessly helped those in need. Her compassionate nature and empathetic ear provided comfort and guidance to many. She leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but will forever be remembered for her love, strength, and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Teresa's memory. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Hijos de Borinquen, 1411 Broadway Street, East Chicago, IN 46312 at 1:00 PM.
